Pulse

Beyond heartbeats and ancestral percussion, there exists another, more subtle and structured form of rhythm: the pulse.

A pulse is a simple, regular sound repetition that clearly organizes time. It doesn't seek to represent a natural bodily rhythm or a ritual pattern, but rather to create a stable reference point for attention.

In this collection, the pulses are generated from instruments with clear timbres, such as the balafon or the glockenspiel, whose defined attacks allow each repetition to be perceived with precision.

THE SOUND OF THE BALAFON

The balafon is a percussion instrument of African origin made up of tuned wooden bars, traditionally accompanied by resonators that amplify its sound.
Its timbre is warm, organic, and slightly vibrant.

Organic pulse sound with a warm and natural resonance.
Its enveloping character fosters a fluid rhythmic perception and a deeper connection to the body.

THE SOUND OF THE GLOCKENSPIEL

The glockenspiel is a percussion instrument made up of tuned metal bars that produce a clear, bright, and defined sound.
Its timbre is clean and precise.

A defined and bright pulse sound with a more precise structure.
It promotes clear focus and a more defined perception of rhythm.

RHYTHM AND ATTENTION

When a sound repeats regularly, the brain tends to synchronize its attention with that pattern. This phenomenon means that rhythmic pulses can promote states of calm concentration, creativity, or mental clarity.

Subtle variations in rhythm can change the perception of listening:

  • Slower pulses expand the sense of time and promote calm.
  • Balanced pulses help sustain attention.
  • More dynamic pulses can activate the mind and stimulate creativity.

THE COLOR OF THE NOTE

In addition to rhythm, each pulse uses a specific note within the musical tuning system.

Notes maintain harmonic relationships with the standard tuning frequency (A = 440 Hz), allowing for the creation of proportional sound structures within the musical space.

In some sound and meditative traditions, these notes have also been symbolically associated with different centers of perception or states of consciousness. From this interpretive perspective, each pulse can be perceived as a combination of rhythmic structure and tonal color.

MoodPulse no plantea estas correspondencias como afirmaciones científicas, sino como marcos simbólicos de exploración sonora que algunas personas encuentran significativos al experimentar la relación entre sonido, percepción y resonancia.

LISTEN TO THE PULSE

Unlike other more immersive or ambient sounds, pulses are minimal sound structures. Their function is not to fill space, but to mark the passage of time.

This simplicity allows each person to discover how different pulses influence their way of thinking, concentrating, or creating.

In MoodPulse, the pulse thus becomes a simple tool for exploring the relationship between rhythm, attention, and inner experience.
